Our Department has had a MAJOR re-vamp over the summer holidays and it looks amazing. Thank you to all the people involved in it's generation and the build. Architects, craftspeople and builders all (not forgetting Mr. Sim and the Board) . It's a great place for our students to get creative in . We couldn't be happier !
Some of our Year 12 and 13 students went to the Whitecliffe College Open Day. We have a couple of old students there and it was great to catch up with them and it was great to see what a future career path in the Arts might look like .
Pacey Allen has designed a fantastic mural which he painted with the support of Victoria (Arts Co - ordinator extraordinaire) . Check out the pictures below !
A massive 'Thank You' to all the people who helped , came , enjoyed , supported and contributed to the our 'Collaborate' Arts Evening . It was great to see so many of you there to support and encourage the students. What a lot of you there were !
It takes a lot of people to stage an evening like this and your efforts , energy and enthusiasm are often above and beyond 'The Call of Duty' ! Our students certainly appreciated it . . . and so did we ! One of our lovely parents , Mr. Roger Driver - Burgess , took some pictures of the night and kindly posted them onto the Thames High School Events and Celebrations FaceBook page. Go on ! Go and have a little look . Here's the link : https://www.flickr.com/photos/driver-burgess/sets/72157656546202032/_ |
August . We have had a visit from a delightful group of school children from the village of Ueno Mura up in the mountains and a couple of 100 kilometres from Tokyo . Although language is often a barrier for us in this big global village , we were still able to communicate throught the use of pictures . Here is some of their work . The teachers joined in too . . .
If you are walking down Pollen Street ( it's hard not to in Thames ) , have a look in the window of number 541 . This is our new Square Metre Gallery.
A great idea by our Arts Coordinator (Vic) with the space kindly donated by Jim Glenn and associates . What we envisage , is displaying work by one particular student for one week at a time . It's a great way of giving our talented young artists some exposure so 'Thank You' to all concerned . Our first artist is Claire Gu . Enjoy . . .

Thank you to all the parents / caregivers / guardians / aunties / uncles / brothers and sisters who came to Sola for our Year 13 students exhibition opening . It was a lovely evening and it was great to see you there . The show is on for two weeks , so get down there to check it out ! Oh yes , and a huge Thames High School "THANK YOU" to everyone at Sola for your support and encouragement. Check out the photos below . . .
A huuuuge Thames High School 'THANK YOU' to Robin and Ray for bringing the Real Art Roadshow to Thames . A bit of background information . The Real Art Roadshow is the personal collection of Fiona Campbell . She decided that she would buy a couple of monster trucks (we're talking MONSTER TRUCKS here) and tour the collection around New Zealand . It's been a 10 year trip visiting schools and communities in all parts of the country . AND IT'S BRILLIANT ! Ray drives the monster truck that concertinas out into a gallery and Robin educates those who walk through the magical portal . Our students really , really enjoyed it and got a lot out of it as did the members of the public who ventured over the threshold . Check out the photos below . . .
Check out some of the photos from our Creativity Evening . Well done everybody who participated , helped , came along . It was great to see you there . See if you can spot yourself . . .
