Welcome to our positive word wall. On a trip to Wellington, Mrs Glenn was so inspired by an art installation by the artist John Reynolds that she thought it would be great for our students to produce our own.
We got our students to think up words that suggested positivity (you won't believe some of the words) and then employed masses of them to paint those words onto prepared blocks of wood. There are 213 of them in all and they can be found along the bottom corridor of 'C"Block..
Thanks to all the students involved, Vic Cullen, our Arts Co-Ordinator, for about a million things involving glue and spirit levels, Mr. Lynch and the Technology Department for cutting 213 pieces of wood and , of course, to Mrs Glenn for taking a trip to Wellington and getting inspired!

Huge congratulations to Emma Marriott who has been accepted at Whitecliffe College of Art and Design next year. It will be a great challenge and a great opportunity for her. We look forward to seeing marvelous things from her in the future.
The Year 13 Photography and Art students have an exhibition at Sola Cafe (great coffee, delicious food, Grahamstown - you know the place) which runs for one week starting from Thursday 26th of September. The work is for sale, some pieces have been sold already and the students are very excited. It's a fantastic opportunity for them to experience exhibiting their work and having you, 'the public', view it.
A huge "Thank You" to Kate, Claire and Sola for supporting our students and the school. You're fantastic, you are!
Check out some pictures from the Open Evening below . . .

Well done to all those students who sold their work. It's a good feeling, isn't it !
A note for your diaries. Next Thursday (24th October) we are celebrating student creativity by having 'A Creativity Night' in the school hall from 7.00pm until 9.00pm. Come along and see how amazing our students are. There will be work across most Faculty areas (because creativity is a diverse thing) and there will be free nibbles and wine (not free and certainly not for the students!) It will be a great night out . . .
Congratulations to Khaleb Paurini. A couple of months ago, Cafe Melbourne approached the school and asked us if anyone would be interested in painting a mural down at the cafe. Khaleb jumped at the opportunity and has spent two days a week working on this mammoth undertaking. It's worth going to see because it's BRILLIANT ! The cafe is great and there is a dangerously decadent artisan bakery there too. It's also worth considering just what it is exactly that goes on in Khaleb's head. Then again, perhaps not. Cafe Melbourne were so impressed that they have asked Khaleb to do another one ! ! ! Thank you to them in particularly. Thank you to Vic Cullen for liasing between both parties and 'Well Done' Khaleb. Very impressive indeed young fella-me-lad.
The Art and Photography students are currently going all out to complete their NCEA boards. Check out some of the work on the Gallery page . .
Arden Driver-Burgess, you are a star !
Arden has just been accepted into Massey (Wellington) to study on the BA Fine Art (with Honours) course. This is a great achievement and well deserved. We couldn't be more pleased for you, Arden and don't forget, 'DROP, COVER AND HOLD' !
AND . . . Hot on the heels of this great news, there's MORE ! ! Ariana-Mei Metekingi and Celine des Baux have also been accepted onto the BA Fine Art course in Wellington. Well done both of you. We're very proud of you.

The Creativity Night was a great success and it was lovely to see you all there. Well done to all the teachers and students and helpers who contributed. Not strictly an 'Arts' night because we had lots of departments sharing their 'creativity', but all the better for it. Check out some of the pictures below . . .
The Thames Arts Festival is up and running (22nd November - 8th December) Here's the link , www.thamessocietyofarts.org.nz . Click on it , have a look and then come back to us !
Our students have , once again , been invited to put some work in local businesses window display areas. The local business community was "very keen" to have us back after our earlier displays in the year ( it must have been all those favourable comments ). So a huge "THANK YOU" to those involved , we've taken the liberty of photographing your business front and encourage all and sundry to get down there, look at the art and buy medicine, clothes, pet food, 'embellishy type things, wooly things, open a bank account, pay a visit to the property consultant e.t.c from those that have supported us !
