Kia ora everybody . This is the page where we get to share some of the other things we get up to (the extra curricular / wider context stuff ). We hope you enjoy what you see . . .
Next month , Thames is having a food and buskers festival which will involve blocking off parts of Pollen Street with concrete planters. Concrete planters don't look that appealing without a degree of beautification. Calling Haidee , Ruby and Istari (Year 11) to do just that . One very hot Saturday later and they have created some vibrant and delightful work which you will be able to see in person if you go to the festival (which you probably will because what's not to love about food and buskers ? ! ).
A huge thank you from all of us here at Thames High to the wonderful Thames Society of Arts . Their gallery is based in Tararu . It's also where the Thames MAD group is based ( ' Mad ' meaning Music / Art / Drama not in the literal sense) !
The Society decided to have a competition for Thames High students as a vehicle for promoting the Arts amongst young people in the area and rewarding the winners with money to help them with their further studies . How wonderful is that ! ?
So a big hearty " Congratulations " to our winners Jenny , Helena and Ruby and Baromey and Ana for getting recommendations . And well done to the others too . Seeing your work in a beautiful gallery space and seeing your enjoyment of seeing your work displayed was priceless . . .

Thank you to all of you who braved the heat and the covid restrictions and came to the Senior Arts exhibition last night . See if you can see yourselves in the pictures !
At this point it might be worth stating that in a year punctuated with lockdowns and uncertainty , our students have been awesome in their resilience and determination to complete such a major undertaking as the external is and in the support they have given to each other in getting over the line . They've been great and they've done great . Enough said . Enjoy the pictures . . .
